No matter what we are after, we’ll get it best by being coherent on a daily basis.
By that I mean that my daily choices, actions, words, intentions and ordinary behaviors have to be coherent with my purpose.
And on a deeper level, my purpose has to be aligned with my core values.
Seems pretty straight forward, right?
But often times we believe that some things are priorities in our lives when upon close inspection, we really do not treat them as such.
Alternately we might create priorities and treat them as such, but they clash with our core values.
That creates incoherence. Incoherence creates random outcomes at best, disastrous results at worst.
There is one very efficient way to know what our priorities have truly been let’s say for the past year or so…
I’ll have a look at my planner and at my expenses, these never lie to me.
And here they are, clear as day: my priorities for the past year. Where I spent the most of my income and most of my time doing have been my ACTUAL priorities in real life…
Are they aligned with what I tell myself I prioritize? Are they aligned with what I want my life to be ?
Are they aligned with WHO I want to be?
Or have I been fooling myself?
Do I spend more time working toward my desire goals and ideals or dilly dallying on social platforms?
Do I spend more time/money on short term gratification or on learning what I need to know or taking care of my body, or my mission, on a consistent basis?
Do I spend more time (energy, thoughts, presence) in idle beingness or in exploration of new possibilities and stimulating activities?
Do I spend more time alone or with people who matter to me?
Do I spend my extra money on my own growth or on futilities?
My expenses in money and time never lie. What I spent them on, HAVE BEEN my priorities.
Maybe not what I intended, but definitely what I did.
There is no point berating myself for obvious incoherence if that’s what is revealed.
However it’s very useful to do this reality check every now and again to see clearly where I stand.
In fact, from where I stand today I can take any direction, any decision, any commitment I choose, to become more aligned, more coherent with my intentional priorities and give them life.
It might not be comfortable always, but it makes choices EASY. Because of the clarity, the gage, I can now live by.
That’s truly empowering.
That’s taking me right into the sweet flow of coherence – the highway to my purpose.
To your Life.
Much love and light.
